Course Summary
Neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and other dementias are on the rise globally. Exercise is one of the most powerful non-pharmacological tools available to slow functional decline, improve independence, and enhance quality of life. This course equips fitness professionals with a practical, safety-focused framework for training clients living with neurodegenerative disorders in collaboration with medical teams.
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
– Describe key neurodegenerative conditions and their functional impact.
– Explain the brain–body relationship and the role of neuroplasticity.
– Apply safety, medication, and fatigue considerations when training these clients.
– Design adapted, task-specific exercise programmes that support independence and participation.
