The National Certificate in Fitness is a comprehensive programme for the aspiring fitness professional, including both theoretical and practical elements. Our key focus is on producing fitness professionals who demonstrate competency in the workplace. This certification is carefully designed to ensure that you are immersed in the fitness industry while you study, so that you not only possess the latest information available, but have the confidence and ability to apply your skills once qualified!

Upon completion of this qualification, you will be fully-equipped to:

  • Design and implement a physical activity programme for healthy individuals
  • Screen, assess and monitor health-related fitness programmes
  • Promote and provide safe and effective physical activity participation to meet participants’ fitness requirements
  • Have the knowledge for appropriate referral to other healthcare providers

The Physical IQ National Certificate in Fitness is accredited by the Department of Education and CATHSSETA. Physical IQ courses are accredited with REPSSA (the governing body for Fitness in SA) and are recognised by all major gyms, both locally and abroad.

You will also have the option to register for certification from NASM, gaining the only internationally-recognised and locally-accredited qualification in South Africa!

Each module is comprised of the following:

  • Online quiz
  • Portfolio task
  • A final practical exam will take place at the end of the year
  • A portfolio of evidence with each modules task must be submitted PRIOR to the examinations
  • A workplace logbook detailing shadowing and supervised hours must be submitted with the portfolio of evidence

  • Complete online multiple-choice quiz assessments at the end of each module
  • At the end of the course, you will post us your Logbook and portfolio of evidence (with all of your completed tasks) – you are welcome to submit tasks electronically too, via our Student Online Learning Centre.
  • Email us if have ANY questions and we will get back to you within 24 hours.
  • Complete your practical exam (no theory examination) in the designated examination periods throughout the year with a certified Physical IQ Assessor
