TEAM PROFILE – WAYNE MINNIE, HEAD OF COLLEGE, PHYSICAL IQ

Wayne Minnie is our highly-qualified Head of College, and is responsible for the overall management of Physical IQ. Having been a sports fanatic all his life, and taking part in as many different sports opportunities as he could, it was only natural that Wayne would follow a career in sports and fitness.

Wayne’s love of sport saw him studying Sports Science, eventually qualifying as a Biokineticist. Meanwhile, he began a long career in the sports and fitness industry, starting out as a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer at Virgin Active, a position he remained in for 5 years.

After graduating, Wayne realised that he had a passion for teaching, and he accepted a position as a sports and fitness lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. A year into his time as a lecturer, Wayne founded his own private biokinetic practice, which is still going strong almost 15 years later.

In 2008, Wayne moved to the Health and Fitness Professionals Association as a lecturer and 2nd year coordinator, developing his love for teaching and expanding his skills in the education environment, before moving to Durban High School as a Strength and Conditioning Consultant.

2013 saw Wayne bring his extensive skills and experience in both fitness and education to Physical IQ, and he has risen up the ranks to become Head of College. When he’s not busy helping develop the fitness leaders of tomorrow, Wayne enjoys fishing, running and playing guitar, and is very active in his church’s youth ministry.
